Winter Essentials
Guess what?!
Today is the first day of Winter. The first day of my absolute favourite season!
There are so many reasons as to why I love winter.
The creamy, hot chocolates with the mini marshmallows, the long drives down south to ski in the snow, and blankets. Enough said. I just love winter.
Winter is just the best season to exist, and there is no doubt about it.
However, with the cold weather, winter brings along some challenges, and that's why I decided to bring to you some of my Winter Essentials!
To start out, a few skin care products to keep your skin perfect throughout the season:
Moisturiser
Moisturiser for me is a must. Even though I love the cold, if there's a cold wind whipping through me, the skin on my face feel like it’s being torn off. So I’ve been using a moisturiser by Clinique called the “Dramatically Different Moisturising Gel”. It’s nice and light and makes your skin feel softer and more hydrated almost immediately. I absolutely love it and using this regularly really helps all year round.
Lip balm
Lip balm has the same concept as the moisturiser, except for your lips! I carry lip balm with me everywhere and will often have several on me at one time.
I have so many lip balms because often, I lose them and will buy or find another one. It is just one big, continuous cycle. Because of this, I have tried many lip balms from a range of shops, and I have found the only lip balms that actually work for me, are the ones from the pharmacy! I’ve tried ones from lush and the supermarket, but during winter the only lip balms that help are the one from the good old drug store.
Nivea, Blistex or Burt’s Bees works best for me!
Lip scrub
Lip scrubs are fantastic to cleanse your lips and make them perfectly soft and kissable during the cold weather. My favourite Lip scrub that I’ve found is the “Bubblegum” lip scrub from Lush. It tastes great and works wonders!
Next, up, a beauty essential when it comes to winter is:
Berry toned lipstick
I find that during winter, everyone including me tends to gravitate toward dark shades of lipstick or eyeshadow. It just seems to be the season where you can get away with it. A lovely berry lipstick seems to suit everyone at this time of year! My favourite is a lipstick by Loreal Paris, number #374 and I think it is a magnificent colour.
Last but definitely not least, I have what I feel can not be left out of my list of winter essentials. They are 100% needed all season round.
Hand Sanitizer
I feel that in winter, everyone is either sick, getting sick, sneezing on you or coughing next to your face. I don’t know about you, but to me, this quite unpleasant and I feel like hand sanitizer is my solace. It’s a quick escape before you can run home and head straight to the shower. Personally, and I’m sure many others will agree, my favourite hand sanitizers are the ones from Bath and Body works. However, I live in Australia are both expensive and extremely hard to get the product that you want. Because of this, I have bought any recently I am starting to run low.
When I did buy them, I bought a nice summer pack which included flavours like garden strawberries, pink passion-fruit, tangerines, lemons, and one more that I can’t quite put my finger on. They smell great! However, I’m sure they’re out of date by now… I really should get some more…
Candles
Now, who doesn't love the smell of a nice candle on a cold night! I’ve got a little candle collection going at the moment; a few small Yankee Candle samples of Red Raspberry, Kilimanjaro Stars, and Cappuccino Truffle. They smell like heaven! And they were only $3 each! I also have a white chocolate candle, a Krispy Kreme Donut candle and a Caramel candle to satisfy my sweet tooth!
Blankets (and Netflix!)
Essential. Essential. Essential. Blankets. Whatever your blanket is, a nice fluffy one will do the trick. Now that you have your blanket, snuggle up in front of Netflix and watch what you like. Recently I’ve been watching "That 70’s Show" from the beginning, and I’ve been having a great time!
Hot chocolate
Another simple essential that can’t be ignored in the lovely time of winter is hot chocolate. It was a drink made in the heavens and sent by the Gods. Normally I have the “Cadbury Drinking Chocolate” to satisfy my hot chocolate craving, but the other day… WE RAN OUT! So the closest thing I could find was Nutella. Not going to lie, I made a pretty good hot chocolate with Nutella simply by warming up some milk and melting about a tablespoon or so through my mug of milk. It gave it a nice creamy texture and had a wonderful nutty aftertaste.
I’m yet to try this Crockpot hot chocolate I found on Pinterest!
A Great book
Last on my list of winter essentials, is a great book.
I don't know if it’s just me, but when I think of winter, I think of the cosy time where you're snuggled up on the couch or in bed reading a read. But not just any book, it has to be a good book, or otherwise, it’s just not worth it.
Thank you guys so much for reading, I hope you enjoyed it! If you want, why don’t you let me know some of your essentials for Winter?
Have a great week!
Jenny xx
I find paw paw cream is a really amazing product for the summer and the winter as it is great for pretty much everything, it's very moisturising and leaves my lips feeling very soft, I also highly recommend The Kingkiller Chronicle series by Patrick Rothfuss ('The name of the wind', 'The wise man's fear) as the novel takes you on a journey and makes everything seem real and its just a really amazing book. :D
