2018 Reading List
Hello Everyone!
I love reading. Always have. Always will.
However, I found that a lot of preferred reading was postponed due to school and assigned readings.
So, in my first year out of School, I hope to have enough spare time to read all the books that I couldn't in previous years.
The list I've created for 2018 is a pretty extensive one, and I'm hoping that my goal to read them all isn't too far fetched.
If you enjoy my reading list, you should (add?/follow?) me on Goodreads to see my updates throughout the year! I'm sure there will be several updates here also, however I plan on keeping my Good-reads up to date, so if you're interested in seeing what I'm reading and when, go ahead and add me!
And now for the list! (Mostly in order of "Want to read")
(Books with a ** have been read!)
To Finish:
"Lifeblood" - Gena Showalter **
This book is the second in the "Everlife" series. I picked up the first one, "Firstlife" when bored in Target one day and it was a fantastic decision! I had to wait for lifeblood to come out after I finished Firstlife and that was a wait and a half! I even pre-ordered the book! Only for it to arrive during exam time and for me to never get back to reading it. So I'm reading it now, and I'm very much enjoying it!
"Alone on the Wall" - Alex Honnold
Alex Honnold is a famous, free-solo climber. Legendary amongst the climbing community. Alone on the Wall is a documentation of moments in his life and his biggest free-solo climbs.
I enjoy it when I read it, however, I have been taking my time. Reading a story or a few pages in-between books.
I will be sure to finish Alone on the Wall this year.
To Read:
The Percy Jackson Series - Rick Riordan
The Percy Jackson series was my favourite book series in my younger years of Highschool. My friends and I read them all at the same time and almost had a little bit of a book club going on.
So with the same friends, we decided to do the same thing with one of our younger neighbours to have some fun and encourage her to find another book that she loves. So starting new years day, we'll read the series together. I'm really looking forward to this as I have wanted to re-read the Percy Jackson series for ages.
"Everlife"- Gena Showalter
Everlife is the third and final book in the "Everlife" series. Its release date is 27th of February (possibly 28th for Australia). It'll be a hard wait, but I am so ready for this book to be released.
Heroes of Olympus Series - Rick Riordan
I'm almost going back and forth here; however, after reading the Percy Jackson series, I want to continue and finish the Heroes of Olympus series. A series containing some of the original characters of Percy Jackson as well as more as they find a Roman half-blood camp.
"Everything, Everything" - Nicola Yoon
A book I've been eager to read as soon as I found out it existed. I saw the trailer for the movie and new it was something I would love, however, knowing me, I never got around to seeing the film, and one day after hours of internet use I, all of a sudden, found out that Everything Everything, originated as a book. So I bought it for me and one of my friends for Christmas. She has ALREADY read it and said it was amazing, which only excites me more.
"Me before you" - Jojo Moyes
I've seen this movie! And once again, I found the book existed after seeing, once again in one of my strolls in Target. After loving the movie, however sad it was, I knew I would adore the book, so that is how it and the second book made it onto this list!
"After You" - Jojo Moyes
The second book of the "Me before you" series, and I'm briefly terrified to read this. I hope she's okay.
"Seven Ancient Wonders" - Matthew Reilly
This book was also in one of my friend's Christmas gift this year! She got two books, "Seven Ancient Wonders" and "All the light we can not see." Both books which I had wanted to read, so no doubt I will be borrowing those as soon as I reach them on my list. I've heard several people say that Matthew Reilly is a fantastic author, so I've been excited to read one of his books for a while.
"All the light we can not see" - Anthony Doerr
This book has been a best seller for a while now, and it's been on my list for a few years. I'm excited that I might actually read it this year!
The Kane Chronicles - Rick Riordan
Back to Rick Riordan! This series was one that my friends continued reading after Percy Jackson. However, this one is about Egyptian gods! I can't remember why I didn't read them back in the day, but I'm ready to pick them up now!
The Divergent Series - Veronica Roth
The movies to the Divergent series came out a few years back, a series that intrigued me. I knew I wanted to see them, but I also knew I wanted to read the book first, so I have refused to watch the movies for (three?) years. So if this reading challenge goes well, maybe I'll actually get to watch them?
"The Book Thief" - Markus Zusak
A book written in the perspective of death? Yes, please! Combined with World War 2?? Definitely! Another book that I've had on my shelf, waiting for me to read since a year or two ago.
Magnus Chase and the Gods of Asgard - Rick Riordan
A book series I had only briefly heard about until this year, however, it's Rick Riordan... again... so I thought I'd give it a shot! This series is about the Norse Gods.
The Trials of Apollo - Rick Riordan
Another series by Riordan that I didn't know existed until this year! The third book in this series will be released in May of 2018, but even if I don't get around to read that book, I love the idea of a God being put into Camp Half-Blood!
So that's my list.
Totalling up to (a minimum of) 32 books. I think the most I've read in a year has been 10.
Many other books didn't quite make the final cut, I wonder if I'll get around to reading them?
Let me know in the comments below what you think of my reading list, and what books are on your list for 2018!
See you in the New Year!
